So, I made it. The flight was awful. Actually, the whole flying part was ok. The pilot knew what he was doing and the flight was rather smooth. However, I was so sick and miserable that I was REALLY ready to get off the plane by the 3rd hour; the flight from Seattle to Frankfurt is 9 hours long. Luckily, the plane was not full at all. I moved to the middle seats early on and one man joined at the other end. When it came time for me to get some sleep, he very kindly let me know that he did not mind if I spread out through the 3 seats so I didn't have to be all scrunched up. Thankfully, he also acted as my guard dog when the 2 yr old boy in the row ahead of us kept trying to walk on me when I was sleeping. This guy knew I was sick and he was really very nice to make sure I got some rest.
Lufthansa is really a nice airline. The plane was comfortable as far as planes go, but the food was horrific. I think my dog can make better food than that and she lacks thumbs.....
Anyway, more later...I am going to eat now.

2 days before departure
After a crazy weekend of meeting the boyfriend's mom for the first time and hosting her and his 2 sisters, brother-in-law and the adorable 13 month nephew, I have to get back into "I am leaving for Italy soon" mode.
So, my suitcase is out, dry cleaning is done at 4pm today, and I have to go buy some last minute items (like shoes) tonight. I have found that you want to pack as light is possible and expect your luggage to get lost. The nicer way to say it is always pack your necessities and a full outfit change in your carry-on. My luggage has been lost more times than it hasn't and I can tell you that it is not fun running around with "flight clothes" and no toothbrush. Granted you can just buy these things when you get there, but why spend the money. Just pack right!
I came into the office today at the crazy hour of 4am. As this is my last day in the office before I leave, I want to make sure everything is in its place and ready for me to be gone for a week. No need to panic, but I am anyway. As a matter of fact, I should probably stop typing and do some more work. Thought I would type a few thoughts while my computer was doing it's little disk scan thingy.
Ciao for now!

Travel Blog
Ok kids, here it is... my new and improved blogging place for all my fun and exciting adventures to Italy. I am leaving November 12, 2008 to go to the Arezzo area. I am already going crazy trying to make sure everything is set-up at the office and at home before I leave. Why I feel responsible for a bunch of grown men at home, I have no idea but at least I will know they are well fed when I am gone by preparing enough meals to freeze before I leave.
So, this weekend is packing, cleaning, cooking, and maybe a little sleep..... I will keep you posted.
